Workers of the BJP burnt an effigy of Congress MLA from Rohtak Bharat Bhushan Batra here today. They were protesting the alleged misbehaviour of the MLA’s son with a Dalit woman worker.

Former state minister Manish Grover said the MLA and his son should apologise for their poor behaviour with the Dalit woman worker.

“Our protest demonstrations will continue until Batra and his son tender an apology,” said Grover. The matter pertains to last Saturday, when a Dalit woman worker of the BJP was distributing some pamphlets on the Railway Road in Rohtak. Some Congress workers, including the local MLA’s son, reportedly objected to the content and distribution of the pamphlets, following which an altercation broke out. The BJP workers later lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that the Congress workers had misbehaved with the Dalit woman worker.

They also staged a dharna in front of the local SP’s residence and took out a protest march in the city over the issue.
