Claiming that a majority of current political candidates were distant from the woes and concerns of apartment owners and homebuyers in Gurugram, the Federation of Apartment Owners Association (FAOA) has decided to field two Independent candidates in the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha elections.

The association plans to field the candidates from the Gurugram and Badshahpur Assembly segments. Sanjay Lal, president of the FAOA and member of Central Advisory Council of RERA, has been chosen as the candidate for the Gurugram Assembly while Ajay Sharma, a senior executive member of the Human Rights and Legal Rights Protection of India, has been chosen as the candidate from the Badshahpur Assembly.

According to the association, both candidates have been working on ground to resolve day to day civic crisis. Ajay has been a driving force behind key developments in Badshahpur, including improvements in roads, electricity, drainage systems, green belt areas and structural audits.

Sanjay Lal has been taking this up in Gurugram in addition to escalating all concerns at various levels, including district, state, and central government forums, with regular interactions with NITI Aayog.

“Gurugram continues to experience rapid urbanisation and a booming real estate market. The city faces escalating challenges that demand urgent attention. The influx of large investors has fueled a rise in land mafia operations and builder-politico nexus, leading to significant issues such as illegal land acquisitions, regulatory violations, inordinate delays in project completion, lack of public transportation, goverment healthcare facilities, government school, colleges, multilevel parking, traffic jam, delay in metro extension and environmental degradation. The city also grapples with poor sewage and water infrastructure and we need people who face this and can work on their resolution,” read the association statement.
