Gurugram, August 28
A meeting of the Citizens’ Supervisory Committee of Gurugram city was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Dr Balpreet Singh, Additional Commissioner of the Gurugram Municipal Corporation, in which residents raised civic issues of cleanliness and waste management.
Singh said under the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, it was mandatory for the bulk waste generators (BWG) located in the municipal limits to separate their wet, dry and domestic hazardous waste and dispose it properly. Private agencies were empanelled by the MC to provide assistance to them. Teams were continuously issuing notices and fining the BWGs which had not registered themselves with the corporation.
It was also suggested to hold monthly review meetings with the empanelled agencies, upload the question-answer format issues related to BWGs , prepare a city sanitation plan and further improve door-to-door waste collection.
Sandeep Kumar, a senior sanitation inspector, said challans were issued to four BWGs on Wednesday when those were found not following the rules during inspection in the Dwarka expressway area.
