Virendra Singh, the newly appointed chief of Mastana Shah Balochistani Ashram at Dera Jagmalwali, has received a death threat via a 25-second audio message posted in a WhatsApp group dedicated to the dera’s followers.

Dera spokesperson Vishnu said a police complaint had been lodged in response to the threat. The dera management learned about the threat through the WhatsApp group and has requested a thorough investigation. They have also urged the police to enforce stringent security measures to prevent any untoward incident.

Vishnu expressed concerns that the threat might be part of a broader conspiracy against the dera, exacerbated by recent social media misinformation. The dera has reported these misleading posts to the authorities and requested action against those responsible.

The threat comes amid ongoing tensions following the succession of Virendra Singh Dhillon as the new dera chief on August 9, 2024, after the death of the former chief, Bahadur Chand Vakil Sahib. The memorial service for Vakil Sahib, held on August 8, 2024, was attended by several political figures, including Chief Minister Nayab Saini.
