Two held in rape case

The police have nabbed an accused of raping a minor girl. The arrest was made within six hours of the complaint being lodged.

A spokesperson of the police department said the accused, identified as Ribhu Tyagi, hailing from Meerut, Uttar Pardesh, was arrested on August 27. The accused had allegedly raped the 15-year-old girl in February and March this year, according to

the spokesperson.

It was reported that the victim’s mother, who was separated from the minor’s father, had been residing with the accused for several months. It was revealed that the victim had not filed a complaint so far due to pressure from her mother, who had reportedly been supporting the accused and had asked her not to lodge a complaint or reveal the matter to anyone.

The case was registered after the father of the victim came to know about the incident on Tuesday.

The accused youth and the mother of the victim have been arrested in this connection, according to a police official.

Both of the accused have been remanded in judicial custody after interrogation, it was claimed.
