Police foil drug smuggling attempt in Jalandhar, one suspect caught

A police encounter took place in the Lajpat Nagar area on Wednesday evening between the CIA staff of the Police Commissionerate and drug smugglers. Acting on a tip-off, the police team pursued the suspects, leading to an exchange of gunfire when the smugglers opened fire on spotting the police.

During the shootout, no one was injured, contrary to initial reports, according to CIA in-charge Surinder Singh. However, one suspect was apprehended, while another person managed to escape. The police seized narcotics and weapons from the scene.

Senior police officials investigated the incident, while the CIA team continues to chase the remaining suspects.
