Left, AAP supporters at loggerheads over allotment of MGNREGA works in Jalalabad

Hundreds of members of the MGNREGA Rozgar Prapat Mazdoor Union along with CPI workers and AAP supporters staged simultaneous protests at the Block Development and Panchayat Office in Jalalabad today.

Both the outfits leveled allegations against each other over the allotment of MGNREGA works and interference in the government functioning.

Jarnail Singh Dhaban of the MGNREGA Rozgar Prapat Mazdoor Union alleged that the ruling party leaders have deputed a person without whose consent no work is allotted. The CPI leaders demanded allotment of works in a transparent manner.

As the dharna was underway, a large number of workers from rural areas and supporters of AAP also reached the spot and raised slogans.

They alleged that the union members were pressurising the government functionaries to allot works to their supporters. Sensing the gravity of the matter, Jalalabad DSP Jatinder Singh reached the BDPO office and defused the situation. Later, representatives of the both the factions presented a memorandum to the SDM in this regard.
